In this DDD approved course, participants will learn how to identify abuse, neglect, and exploitation and the expectations for mandated reporting. Whether you are a caregiver, healthcare professional, direct support staff, or someone working with individuals with developmental disabilities, this course will provide you with the tools to safeguard those in your care.
Key topics covered include:
Understanding abuse and neglect: Learn the various types of abuse and neglect, and how they impact individuals, especially those in vulnerable populations such as minors, elderly adults, and individuals with developmental disabilities.
Recognizing warning signs: Gain the ability to identify physical, behavioral, and emotional indicators that someone may be experiencing abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
Legal and ethical responsibilities: Familiarize yourself with state and federal regulations, reporting requirements, and your role in responding to suspected cases of abuse and neglect.
Creating a safe environment: Develop strategies to reduce the risk of abuse and neglect within caregiving environments through improved policies, staff training, and fostering a culture of accountability and support.
Effective response and reporting: Learn how to appropriately document and report instances of abuse, neglect, and exploitation to the proper authorities and agencies.
